Dr. Joseph Emmanuel Takes Helm as Chief Executive of CISCE

Dr. Joseph Emmanuel is set to assume the role of Chief Executive and Secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) starting May 1, 2024. His appointment was announced by the ICSE board in an official statement.
With a rich background in education, Dr. Emmanuel brings over three decades of experience to his new position. He previously held the position of Director (Academics) at the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and has served in various capacities, including Executive Officer at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Officer on Special Duty (NEET).
In his new role, Dr. Emmanuel will be responsible for overseeing the conduct of examinations, ensuring that affiliated schools maintain the standards set by the council, and overseeing curriculum development, among other duties.
A graduate of Mahatma Gandhi University with an MCom and PhD, Dr. Emmanuel has also been actively involved in the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. He has conducted numerous workshops for teachers, focusing on competency-based teaching and learning, assessment transformation, and student progress tracking.
